What to do, what to do…You have a little time until St Patricks Day and you have absolutely no idea what you should do on the special day. Maybe milling around bars, drinking green beer and wearing pint goggles isn’t your idea of a good time and you want something new! Or maybe you have kid duty that night and want to entertain both them and you on your St Patricks Day evening.

First you take a regular cupcake mix, green food dye, and green icing or white icing that you’ll turn green for St Patricks Day cupcakes. Simply add two or three…or maybe five or six, drops of green food dye in order to change the color of the cupcake batter depending on just how green you want your St Patricks Day cupcakes to be. Mix it well and then decide whether or not you need more color. Once you’re done, bake them and then proceed to frost.

If you like, you can add yellow and green sprinkles for more texture or even use green coconut to add a little extra something to your St Patricks Day cupcakes. You may also want to add St Patrick Day cupcake liners or even sugar shamrocks for a bit more Irish fun.

Of all the St Patricks Day symbols, the leprechaun is a favorite of many. What isn’t there to like? Little guys in cute little coats and jackets who hide their gold and make little shoes are absolutely adorable! Simply look online for a coloring sheet, print two copies (one for the hat), color one entirely except the hat and then cut out the hat of the other and color it also. Play the same way that you would play pin the tail on the donkey.

Did we mention that St Patricks Day is an awesome opportunity to play with your food? You can play with the green food dye all that you like—just keep in mind that meats and certain other foods shouldn’t be turned green. However, you can create green parsnips (cousins to carrots that are slightly sweeter and have a good flavor for stews and soups), mashed potatoes, or even homemade breads if you know how to make them for St Patricks Day dinner.

If you’re the kind of person who really likes to show off your St Patricks Day Pride and you have no problem with dyeing your hair unusual colors, you could dye your hair green. Keep in mind that if you cannot dye your hair green for St Patricks Day that you can instead go ahead and buy spray in dye. Spray in dye washes out in one shampoo and most of the time you can comb a large part of it out anyways.
