Easter Facts And Myths
59
When it comes to the Spring holidays people may not know many of the actual Easter facts that surround some of the festivities. It can also be said that some of the great legends and myths that have been passed down through time get forgotten in the fun and hype of celebrating this bunny filled day.
Some Fun Easter Facts
An interesting Easter fact is that it is a holiday that is not celebrated on the same day each and every year. It is a holiday that follows Good Friday, the day that Christ was crucified. It is an Easter fact that it has become a Christian holiday celebrating the day that Christ was resurrected therefore it's quite common for it to be filled with symbols of rebirth. Both Good Friday and Easter are in fact, set by the cycle of the moon, and so they happen in late March and early April. Another Easter Fact is that the name comes from Eastre, an Anglo-Saxon goddess representing the hare and the egg. It is also an Easter fact that the term Pysanka is specific to coloring eggs. The very first baskets used to help celebrate Easter in fact, were made to look like bird's nests. It is also an Easter fact, that next to Halloween it is the holiday most responsible for a big boom in the candy and confectionery businesses world-wide.
Not An Easter Fact, But A Myth
It may be thought of as an Easter fact that the eggs will appear, get hidden and then searched out. But some people don't know that exchanging eggs began long before the holiday of Easter was celebrated in fact. Ancient Egyptians and Persians swapped colorful eggs because they symbolized fertility and they thought the Earth had hatched from an egg. Early Christians decorated them red and exchanged them to remember the resurrection. Some fun candy myths that stand opposing the Easter Facts are the green and black jelly beans are children's favorite. Actually they enjoy the red ones the most. Some children start to believe that bunnies come from eggs, due to certain advertising campaigns. Contrary to popular belief, pink peeps are not the most popular it is indeed the yellow ones. People often think it's quite simple to make a marshmallow creature, but in fact in 1953 it took 27 hours to create one, and today it still takes six minutes for each of these lovely candies.
Now enjoy hunting eggs, and biting the heads off bunnies, since a few more Easter facts are tucked away for later trivia.

Hiya MsHoliday, Welcome to Hubpages! Very interesting read and informative. Great job! Voted up, awesome and useful.
Have a nice day,
Rosie
They thought the earth hatched from an egg! Fascinating! I love the history behind holiday traditions! What's also funny is that as a kid, I could NEVER bite the head off the chocolate bunny. It seemed too mean. Therefore, I always started eating at the bottom! My daughter took it one step further...she couldn't eat the bunny at all, because it was "too cute." So I would always have these old, dried out chocolate bunnies sitting around the house forever, since she refused to eat them!
